Based in Longquan, China - a city with more than 2,000 years of traditional sword-forging history - TSIAOCHIH is a family-run artisan workshop specializing in hand-forged collector-grade katanas and traditional Chinese swords.

We infuse the legendary power of the dragon and the ancient soul of Eastern forging into every Japanese katana and Chinese sword we forge. Steel meets water; heritage meets precision.
The Master: Mr. Chen
At the heart of TsiaoChih is Mr. Chen, a master smith whose expertise covers the full range of traditional Japanese and Chinese blade-making techniques:
- Kesho-togi polishing: Mr. Chen has personally mastered Kesho-togi, the most demanding and prestigious finishing technique in Japanese sword polishing. This art creates a mirror-bright ji and a sharp hamon.
- Tamahagane production: Mr. Chen is one of the few non-Japanese smiths capable of producing genuine Tamahagane, the legendary steel at the heart of every true Japanese sword.
- Traditional forging and composite construction: Mr. Chen masters classical composite forging techniques, including Sanmai, Kobuse, and Hon-Sanmai.
